So I don't have much time today, but I wanted to share with you a quick miracle we had this week. This week we had a Special Training for Sisters with all the sisters in the mission. It was SO fun and I learned SO much. At the training, President Budge shared with all the sisters Halversen Shimai and I's story about the laundry obajan (grandma) that happened my first Sunday in Japan. Since that first time we met the obajan, we tried visiting her again, but she never answered, so we just left her a note with our phone number on it and stopped trying. Well, since President Budge talked about her at the training, we decided to try and visit her one more time before transfers.
So this week we stopped by, and when we got there, she was hanging up her laundry! We saw her and we hurried over. When she saw us she was a little confused but once we took off our helmets, she recognized us. We talked with her a little outside and she told us about how her sick husband had just past away in the three month period we tried visiting her. She said she received the note we wrote her and she tried calling but she ended up dialing the number wrong. She was calling to say thank you for the help. But, since the number was wrong she decided to try and watch out her window to see if we would ride by on our bikes. How sweet huh!
Well, she invited us in for tea and coffee. We told her we couldn't drink it, but she insisted on making it. We got a little nervous, but then we saw some Coca-Cola on the butsudan (google it) in her house as a "gift" to her husband. We asked if he liked Coca-Cola and we told her we liked Coca-Cola to hopefully she would serve us that instead. haha! She ended up taking that off the Butsudan and giving us that instead. THANK GOODNESS! Because not drinking the tea when it is served to you is impolite.
As we were visiting with the lady, her daughter and nephew came by to visit as well. We were able to talk to them and it was fun getting to know them. The nephew said he has studied with missionaries before. SCORE! Maybe he will start meeting with missionaries again soon. :P It went really well visiting with them and we look forward to visiting again. I think she really enjoys the company.
That was longer than it needed to be, but oh well. as for transfers, I am staying in Takasaki with Halversen Shimai and we are getting another companion. WE will see how it goes. Everyone have a great week and have a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
